Marie Osmond's Son Dies In Suicide

The eighteen-year-old son of Marie Osmond, Michael Blosil, has died after jumping from his Los Angeles apartment building.

Reports indicate that Michael Blosil left a suicide note saying he was going to kill himself after suffering from depression. The L.A. coroner's office has launched an investigation.

Donny and Marie have cancelled their Las Vegas show for tonight and issued the following statement:

"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time"

Blosil had been suffering from depression for several years, as did his mother Marie in 2001 when she penned the book "Behind the Smile," about her experience with postpartum depression.

Marie Osmond has appeared on the television show "Dancing With the Stars," and she and Donny are currently headlining a show in Las Vegas.

Growing Pains Actor Andrew Koenig Found Dead In Vancouver After Suicide

Actor Andrew Koenig has been found and the news is not good.

The "Growing Pains" actor was found dead in a Vancouver park after committing suicide. His body was found in a wooded area near Stanley Park.

His parents held an emotional news conference yesterday saying, "Andrew took his own life." Andrew's father, Walter Koenig, played Chekov on the original "Star Trek" television series.

Officials say foul play has been ruled out, and the family did not believe drugs were involved saying depression was most likely the motivator and said, "He obviously was in a lot of pain".

They said Andrew, 41, had been depressed, and had given away his belongings and had stopped taking his medication and taking phone calls. They pleaded with others who suffer from depression to reach out and seek help.

Walter said at a press conference:

"If you are one of those people who can't handle it any more, know people are out there who really care before you make that final decision, talk to somebody."

In addition to his run on Growing Pains, Andrew Koenig also appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, My Two Dads, G.I. Joe, and the movies NonSense, InAlienable and The Theory of Everything.

Charlie Sheen Enters Rehab

Just when you thought the Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller situation could not get any worse…. It just did.

TMZ is reporting that Sheen did not show up on the set of "Two And A Half Men" yesterday, and that when he showed up for work on Tuesday the production staff was told Sheen was entering rehab.

This could just be a ploy to keep the courts on his side, as part of his probation is not to consume any alcohol or drugs. Uncle Charlies rep says the rehab is "for precautionary measures".

The issue is that if he drinks he may have his bail revoked sending him to jail. That would definitely put a crimp in his sitcoms taping.

We are not sure how the production schedule will need to be altered, but when contracts are signed they are usually for a certain number of shows by a certain date.

Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, was forced to leave a Malibu rehab center last week due to a leak of personal admissions information. Mueller's camp has said they are preparing a lawsuit against the facility and that Brooke has since checked into a more "secure" program.

Hollywood life sure seems complicated sometimes.

Dick Cheney In Hospital With Chest Pains

Ex Vice President Dick Cheney was rushed to George Washington University Hospital Monday after complaining of chest pains.

After being looked at by his doctors and having an angiogram, Cheney was said to be resting while a treatment plan is discussed.

Sixty-nine year old Cheney has had four heart attacks since he was thirty-seven years old, and had a large number of hospital stays, angiograms, stents, and pacemakers installed in the interim.

Cheney's public relations assistant Peter Long issued a statement saying that he was resting comfortably and his doctors were evaluating his situation.

His health was a concern while campaigning with George Bush, and that concern followed him all the way through the White House and into private life.

A press update is expected form the Cheney camp on Tuesday after they confer with his doctors and various specialists.

Growing Pains Actor Andrew Koenig Still Missing

In what has turned out to be one of the most coordinated internet search parties ever mounted, news out of Vancouver is still not good.

Andrew Koenig who appeared as Boner on the hit sitcom "Growing Pains" is still missing.

Koenig, 41, was due to arrive in L.A. on February 14 after visiting Vancouver Canada.

Andrew is the son of famous Star Trek Actor Walter Koenig who played Chekov on the series. Walter and his wife told the press they received an email from their son on the 16th and grew concerned.

His parents say Andrew may be suffering from depression and somewhere near the Vancouver area and that they did not feel drugs were an issue with their son.

They are asking anyone with any information to contact their local police department.

In addition to his role as Richard Boner on "Growing Pains" during the 1980's, Koenig also wrote and directed "Good Boy" (2003) and "Women In A Green Dress" in 2004.

His first television appearance was as a young boy on the popular police show "Adam 12" before taking roles on "My Sister Sam", "21 Jump Street", "My Two Dads", "G.I. Joe", and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

Murder At Jay Leno's House?

Funnyman Jay Leno is always "on" - once a comedian always a comedian.

This week while a film crew was working near Jay's house the police were called in to help with logistics. But as you can imagine, the rumors started flying.

Why were the cops at Leno's house?

Leave it the crack reporting of TMZ to get to the bottom of it all. They sent out a reporter and cameraman to investigate, and happened to run into Jay returning home in one of his vintage cars.

When asked why the cops were at his house Leno, without missing a beat, joked that they were there because of the "murder".

It really is must see TV!

Watch - Tiger Woods Apology Video

Pro golfer and superstar Tiger Woods broke his silence today after three months of being on the lamb.

In his speech he apologized to everyone - his sponsors, family, friends, children, foundation workers, and more. His banter was a bit strained at times, and he almost broke down more then once.

But somehow it didn't feel right. The words were all there, but at times it seemed as if he was just reading a book report instead of offering an apology. He dumped on the media and tended to focus on his rehab more than his problem.

The video below is his press conference from today. Enjoy!

Watch Tiger Apology Video Press Conference Video

Within hours of his apology, lawyer Gloria Allred held her own press conference with one of Tigers ladies -porn star Joslyn James. It seems Allred was looking for a personal, national apology to her client.

James said she never meant to hurt anybody and never lied. She was devastated and crying. Let's see… a porn star having an affair with a man she knew was married, and she wants an apology. Good luck.

ronaldo the best one

In his programme address to the Old Trafford faithful before this match Sir Alex Ferguson told Old Trafford fans "don´t worry", the recent run of 1-0 wins "doesn´t represent a change of tactics".

There are clubs where winning 1-0 every week would be greeted with rapture but Ferguson is acutely aware that United are not among them. They are expected to win, and to do so with style, and he has spent two decades trying to satisfy that wish. The last time a spot of tactical tinkering led to the goals drying up the disgruntlement among the supporters was voluble, even if they preferred to blame Ferguson´s assistant, Carlos Quieroz, rather than the Godfather himself.
Yet no one was complaining too loudly last night after another 1-0 win, against a team famously beaten 7-1 five months ago, gave United a firm grip on Group F of the Champions League. The Premier League champions had not played well and hardly deserved victory, but, thanks to Wayne Rooney´s superbly taken 70th-minute goal, they gained a second win in as many group matches.
Roma and United´s previous victims, Sporting Lisbon, are three points behind them and Dynamo Kiev, against whom United now play back-to-back fixtures beginning in the Ukraine on 22 October, are pointless after losing at home to Sporting last night. As Ferguson pointed out, in his pre-match spiel, "It´s points that matter at this stage in Europe. I would cheerfully settle for another 1-0 win!"
Afterwards he said of United´s sixth 1-0 win in eight matches [the other results being the 2-0 defeat of Chelsea and the Carling Cup loss to Coventry]: "It´s a disease, I´m trying to get a vaccine for it." He added: "It´s not a concern. The goals will come."
One has come, at last, for Rooney. He had not previously scored in a season interrupted by his latest metatarsal injury. It did not show as he turned on to a clever pass from Nani to drill a shot past Gianluca Curci and in off the far post.
"It will do him good," said Ferguson. "Goals always do players good. He is expected to score but this is only his fifth match and he is still trying to get his rhythm and real match fitness."
Rooney had started playing off Louis Saha, with Carlos Tevez dropped to the bench. The move made sense given United´s lack of impact in penalty areas this season, but tactical plans do not take into account human nature. Saha was largely anonymous and had to be replaced by Tevez. That pushed Rooney back up front, and he promptly scored.
Unexpectedly joining Tevez on the bench was Ryan Giggs. With Wes Brown failing a fitness test United began with only five of the XI that started the 7–1 win: John O´Shea, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Perhaps more pertinently only four of the shell-shocked Roma team returned: Francesco Totti, Philippe Mexes, Daniele De Rossi and Mancini.
One Roma player who had not been present in April, but was delighted to get onto the turf last night, was Simone Perrotta. The Italian international was born eight miles away in Ashton-under-Lyne and attended school in Cheshire before his family moved to Italy when he was five. He made it to the bench when Juventus played here in 1999, but did not get on, and was suspended when Roma were drubbed last season. However, he will remember last night for the wrong reasons missing a late chance to snatch a draw.
In the April massacre Roma were three-down after 19 minutes. It was soon apparent that they did not intend to allow a repeat, taking the game to United with Totti twice testing Tomasz Kuszczak. Their bold approach was illustrated when United won a corner. Luciano Spalletti left three up, forcing United to defend with four and leaving them light on numbers attacking the set-play. United hardly troubled the Italians until Curci, a late replacement in goal for Doni, who felt ill during the warm-up, misjudged Patrice Evra´s deep 26th-minute cross, just palming the ball away as it threatened to drop over him and into the net.
Though United improved clear-cut opportunities remained rare, the best falling to Rooney after 33 minutes. Nani´s deep cross eluded everyone except the England striker, but he thrashed an ambitious volley into the crowd.

Cristiano Ronaldo in action

Roma created the better chances of a similarly tight second period with Totti and Alberto Aquilani going close. For United Nani drifted a cross-shot from an acute angle on to the bar. Finally Rooney, having drawn a save at the near post from Curci, broke the deadlock following a swift interchange between Ronaldo, Carrick and Nani.
"A fabulous goal," said Ferguson. "Great movement and good passing."
Roma pressed for an equaliser but a superb tackle by Rio Ferdinand denied Perotta, who then mis-kicked in front of goal after being presented with the ball following a bout of pin-ball in the United area. With four minutes left the impressive Totti befuddled Ferdinand and Mauro Esposito was given a clear shot at goal. As the crowd held their collective breath, he pulled it wide.
United had to play the closing minutes with 10 men after Ronaldo suffered a cut eyebrow, the victim of a stray elbow. They held on and already have a foot in the knockout stages. "Ten points will get us through, and we have six," said Ferguson.

Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a cut eyebrow

Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a cut eyebrow

The United manager´s wish for the final match, in Rome, to be irrelevant looks like being granted. He will recognise, however, that his team will have to play much better if they are to make serious progress in this competition.

Kaka

After Kaka’s press conference yesterday in Recife, there are no more doubts. He is a Real Madrid player, moving from A.C. Milan 59 million pounds, or 68 million Euros. It is a new transfer record in UK pounds but not in Euros, with Zinedine Zidan’es 73 million Euros still on top of the list. Blame a crappy exchange rate and the whole complex financial system for this trivia bit.

Kaka’s transfer is no doubt a huge declaration from Florentino Perez, Real’s re-elected president. Real Madrid missed out on the title last year by a pretty large margin, finally knocked out of the title race with a huge 6-2 KO’s in the super classico by Barcelona. They were also knocked out in second round of the Champion’s League for the 5th season in a row.

With Cristiano Ronaldo the next target for Perez and Real, it’s apparent the dawning of a new galacticos era is upon us. It’s a chance to take a look at the four prime examples of the previous Galacticos era.

Luis Figo

Luis Figo

The first Galactico. Real Madrid just finished a third straight season without a title, with Barcelona winning in 97/98 and 98/99 while Deportivo winning the first one of the new millennium. Florentino Perez was just elected to be the Real Madrid president and started his tenure with this huge signing, the most expensive in the world at the time.

It’s been rumored that Real signed Figo to a contract which said that if Figo wouldn’t be able to convince the Barca execs to sell him to Real he would be forced to pay a huge fine to Real Madrid.

Figo’s transfer was especially huge because of the club he played for, Barcelona. No need to tell anyone how big the rivalry between the two clubs is, and Luis Figo moving to Real was considered an act of treason by Barcelona fans. Each time Figo arrived at the Nou Camp to play there he was received with boo’s and flying objects, with the pig head thrown at him being the most famous incident.

Pig or now, Figo’s transfer to Madrid was huge success, bringing the title back to Real in his first season and also in the 2002/03 season, after a couple more Galacticos joined in. Figo moved on to Inter Milan after the 2004/05 season, and finished his career with Madrid owning two league titles and one Champions League trophy in 2001/2002.

Zinedine Zidane

Zinadine Zidane

When Zidane arrived in Madrid in 2001 that was the real beginning of the dream team that lasted for 2 years more or less. He came from Juventus for the highest transfer fee ever and still is, depending on the currency you use. Zidane’s arrival was a proof that Real could land any player, including the best in the world, and Zidane was the best at the time, missing only a Champion League title in his closet.

Zidane was the prime example of Perez’ take on soccer and the whole Galacticos project, coining the phrase “el Zidane’s y Pavones” referring to Francisco Pavon who now plays for Real Zaragoza. Perez meant that he wants his team to be built of high profile stars like Zidane and Figo and young, home grown player like Pavon to do the dirty work.

His first season, 2001/2002 saw him and Figo as well fill that gap in the resume. Zidane scored an amazing volley kick in the final against Leverkusen, leading Real to a 2-1 victory and their 9th European Champions Cup and also their last to date. He led Real to the league title in 2002/2003, the last galacticos championship. He retired after the 2005/2006 season and the 2006 World Cup with one championship and one Champions League title for Real.

Ronaldo

Ronaldo

Today saying Ronaldo usually means you’re talking about Cristiano Ronaldo. Until no too long ago, that single name meant only one player. Today he is also the old Ronaldo, or the fat Ronaldo, or the real Ronaldo. Ronaldo was the first galactico to be brought onto Real Madrid, returning to the Spanish La Liga after 5 mostly injury riddled season in Italy playing or doing physiotherapy for Inter.

He wasn’t the same lightning fast player as he was when he played for Barcelona 5 years before but he was still an amazing scorer, and in his first season for Real scored 23 league goals, helping Real to the league title. Despite not winning the Champions League that year, this was Real’s dream team at it’s best, with Figo, Zidane, Raul and Ronaldo leading the team to some amazing soccer performances with the 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Champion League quarter finals being the best example of the team’s potential.

Ronaldo played four and a half seasons in Madrid, winning only one league title but scoring 83 goals in 127 games.

David Beckham

David Beckham

When David Beckham arrived in the summer of 2003, it was the beginning of the end for the Galacticos project. It took Real another 2 years to realize and face the facts that the concept has bombed, but it really began falling apart with Beck’s arrival.

Why? David Beckham wasn’t and isn’t a bad player. He’s a really good one actually. His one fault – he’s a huge icon, with his influence and reach far beyond the soccer world. That is why he was bought, not because he was what Real needed, and they didn’t need another player on the right, where Figo was playing. He was bought to sell shirts and a whole lot of other stuff, and that’s why everything it didn’t work out.

Beckham was a good, very good player, but on the wrong team, at the wrong time. He spent four years at Real, winning a league title only during his last one, in 2006/2007 before leaving to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Florentino Perez is obviously trying to recreate the dream team ideal, but the question if he has learned from his mistakes from the first dream team remains to be seen. Barcelona of the last three seasons is a great example to learn from, good and bad.
