Spain's Dani Pedrosa claimed his fifth MotoGP victory with a superb flag-to-flag ride on his Honda in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
The 22-year-old claimed the championship lead from Casey Stoner as the Australian struggled on his Ducati.
Pedrosa rocketed past pole sitter and arch-rival Jorge Lorenzo to take the lead on the first corner and proceeded to lay down a series of blistering laps to open up a handsome over the rest of the field.
Five-times MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi claimed second place, some three seconds behind Pedrosa, while his Yamaha team mate Lorenzo finished third.
American Nicky Hayden was fourth on his Honda but defending champion Stoner finished back in 11th place after taking two detours on the gravel early in the race.
Fellow Australian Chris Vermuelen was tenth on his Suzuki.

Well, we can stop feeling sorry for 84 year old Hugh Hefner now.

Seems the old geezer has once again stepped into the world of blissful engagement and put a ring on 24 year old Playboy Playmate model Crystal Harris.

Harris graced the cover of Playboy in December 2009 while still 23 years young.

Hefner divorced his last twenty year old playmate in 2010, and divorced his first wife way back in 1959.

Way to go Hef.

Asamoah Gyan is looking forward to playing in front of Sunderland's "incredible fans" after he completed a club-record transfer to the Stadium of Light.
The 24-year-old has penned a four-year deal after the Black Cats paid a fee in excess of £13m to bring the striker to Wearside.
Gyan, who has scored 22 goals in 44 games for Ghana, completed his protracted move with just 15 minutes to spare before the 6pm transfer deadline.
Now he can't wait to get started and repay the faith manager Steve Bruce has shown in him.

In a world exclusive interview, Gyan said: "It's been a long day, but finally I'm happy to be here and my family and friends are also happy for me.
"My family is in England already and I am happy this is the right place for me.
"The Sunderland coach has faith in me because he has been following me for two years now.
"I am pleased I have the opportunity to come to England."
Gyan added that he will embrace the supporters' "never say die" attitude and is convinced he can be a success on Wearside.
He said: "I follow English football and I know Sunderland have incredible fans.
"I especially know about the derby when they play against Newcastle. That is something incredible. I have witnessed that myself.
"The Sunderland fans never say die. They keep cheering their team on for 90 minutes. That gives me confidence to play maximum football.
I am here to do my best and show what I can do. I have watched Sunderland play before - I think it will be good."

It’s Official: Justin Bieber Is a Brat

We have been hearing it for a while now… “Justin Bieber is a spoiled brat”.

Yes, the sixteen year old teen sensation appears to be turning into somewhat of a diva and a practical joke lover. But reports are surfacing that says Bieber’s joking has started to go too far and many staffers are beginning to avoid the singer fearing they will be his next victim.

A BBC radio host mentioned the Bieb specifically when asked who his worst celebrity interview was. Another story broke that says Bieber told a television staffer to never fu***ing touch him again. Another prank backfired when Justin pushed a friend of his into a swimming pool not realizing the guy had his passport, phone, wallet, and expensive suit on him.

Earlier this summer he was almost arrested at a venue because he threw water balloons at a cop.

At other times the joking turns into bursts of total disrespect for someone as if, “I’m Justin Bieber and I can do anything I want and say anything I want.”

Others close to the singer say Justin’s mother, Patti, is growing concerned Bieber is growing up too fast, in an out of control celebrity frenzy, and that it has started to go to his head.

Alastair Cook England best Opener

Cook's summer has begun in promising fashion, with his Test-best innings of 160 at Chester-le Street helping England wallop the West Indies 2-0. Now, though, the Essex left-hander is back on the county circuit, having failed to win selection for either the one-day internationals or next month's Twenty20 World Cup.
But it is the battle to reclaim the Ashes that Cook is focusing on. And while memories of the 2005 win are still vivid, the whitewash series of 2006-07 motivates him to go the extra yard in training. "I try to avoid thinking about it," he said when asked to reflect on Australia's 5-0 triumph. "But the memory is still there. It wasn't a happy time to be an English cricketer."
Especially, one imagines, for a 21-year-old international novice - as Cook was when that series began. Now, though, Cook is able to use the whitewash as a motivational tool.
"For example, when I've got another minute to go on the running machine and I'm really struggling - that's when I remember the last Ashes series," he said. "I use it to push that extra bit."
Not that all of Cook's memories from that trip to Australia are bad. A century in Perth, against Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Co, was something to treasure. "Definitely," he agrees. "But overall I came away disappointed with my own performance."
Cook will go into this Ashes series with 43 Tests, nine centuries and an average of 45 behind him.
However, at 24, he still claims to have "a hell of a lot to learn".
Despite losing his place in England's one-day team, Cook is confident he will again play 50-over cricket for his country. But making the Twenty20 side could be a challenge too far.
"I am frustrated at not being involved in England's one-day team," Cook said. "But I feel that it is going to do me more good playing for Essex than being in the England squad and not making the starting XI. As it is I've got a great chance to play some Twenty20 cricket for my county and then some championship cricket before the Ashes."
Ah, the Ashes. Everything comes back to the A-word this summer. And with Australia having lost half their whitewash team to retirement, surely England can serve up a repeat of 2005.
"If we play as well as we can then it will be a good series," added Cook. "We can put Australia under pressure."
And win? "Being part of an Ashes-winning team would be a dream. I don't think anyone who hasn't experienced it can imagine what that would be like - but I'd love to find out."

he United Nations Development Programme today appointed soccer star from Côte d’Ivoire Didier Drogba as a Goodwill Ambassador for the fight against poverty at a ceremony in Geneva at the Palais des Nations. Drogba, currently the leading scorer in both the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, in his new role as an advocate for the poor will set his sights on a new set of goals, away from the soccer pitch: the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These globally agreed targets seek to halve world poverty by 2015 by setting targets for rolling back hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women.
“I don’t forget my origins,” said Drogba. “I have been given opportunities to succeed in life, but I constantly think about the ones who did not have this chance. We all need to contribute to help defeat poverty.” Drogba will work with UNDP to spur action at all levels of society in pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals, with a particular focus on Africa.
“We’re very pleased to have Didier on our side, working to help countries reach the MDGs,” said UNDP Administrator Kemal DerviÅŸ. “Greater recognition of the wide range of serious challenges we face in Africa and around the world is an important part of meeting those challenges—and Didier will offer tremendous help in raising awareness.” The other UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors are soccer legends Ronaldo and Zinédine Zidane, South African Nobel Prize winner Nadine Gordimer, Japanese actress Misako Kono and Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway.
Drogba has previously collaborated with several charities and organisations and has long been active in mobilizing support for the eradication of poverty. He has also participated in several HIV/AIDS campaigns, and will continue to focus on this issue--and its implications for human rights and women’s empowerment.
“Gender equality must be promoted, and women and girls are at a special risk. Male attitudes and behaviour need to change, and as a man and a role model for many young boys in Africa I will do my best to promote the right messages to other men and boys to stop the pandemic,” said Drogba. He will also support UNDP’s work in conflict prevention and recovery.
Didier Drogba received his credentials as Goodwill Ambassador by the Director of the UNDP Office in Geneva, Ms Odile Sorgho-Moulinier on behalf of the Administrator of UNDP.
Born in Abidjan in1978, Drogba spent his childhood in his native Côte d'Ivoire and his adopted country, France. He led Côte d'Ivoire to its first-ever World Cup final in 2006, and currently plays for Chelsea F.C. of the English Premier League.

So, here’s what happened: Kevin Pietersen made a few ill-advised comments to the papers about a) how he wanted to go home to England already after a long tour and b) how the current team is a “lonely place to be.” It now also appears Pietersen, like Matt Prior, asked to temporarily leave the tour to be with his wife, Jessica Taylor (pictured above), who was in a final of a celebrity dance show. He was denied and, for the record, she came in third (someone called Ray Quinn won).
A number of critics, including Nasser Hussain, have taken on Pietersen for the comments, but I’m not sure why, not least because Dancing on Ice sounds like a great show, no doubt more entertaining than the West Indies-England series.
But even when considering the matter seriously, it’s clear everyone has over-reacted: a) Pietersen bent over backwards in respect to Andrew Strauss’ captaincy, saying over and over that he didn’t want to interfere; b) admitting homesickness isn’t all that treacherous (Flintoff and Harmison regularly go on about this); c) Pietersen remains the best batsman of the team. Even while he’s stuttered during the ODI series (with an average of just over 1o), he was a top England scorer in the Tests, averaging 58. If anything, England’s team is so lonely because it’s obvious Pietersen is just so much better than his teammates. It’s so hard being the best, I imagine?
And, in case you wanted to see what Pietersen missed, here’s a YouTube compilation of Taylor’s efforts during the competition:

Marcos Maidana Boxer Wallpaper&Picture

Ask those in the boxing business whether Victor Ortiz quit in his fight against Marcos Maidana on Saturday in Los Angeles and they’ll probably squirm before giving you a yes or a no. That’s because they have respect for Ortiz and everyone else who has the guts to step through the ropes. Ultimately, though, most arrive at the same conclusion.
“I’ll just say it … he quit. I wouldn’t have done that,” heavyweight contender Chris Arreola said after a few moments of hemming and hawing.
The response to the way the fight ended and Ortiz’s subsequent comments, which seemed to confirm that he gave up early in the sixth round of the thrilling brawl, has largely been damning. Ortiz has been called everything from a coward to a quitter.
And a damage-control statement released Tuesday, in which Ortiz states that his comments were an emotional response to the loss, isn’t going to help much.
No one who knows anything about this game would call Ortiz or any other professional boxer a coward. It just isn’t true. And few are comfortable even labeling this skillful and powerful athlete a flat out quitter.

Natalie Gulbis LPGA Hot Player

Natalie Gulbis, you are sexy! You’ve caught the attention of everyone on the LPGA tour with your powerful drives and accurate irons. Men love your greenish-blue eyes and streaked blonde hair, but it’s your command of that long, stiff shaft that drives them wild.
You are 5’9” worth of sexiness. You broke par at age 10, and you’ve been breaking hearts since the glorious day your father allowed you to wear that mini-skirt for a round of 18. In high school, you crushed your male competitors, shaming them in defeat and forcing them to spend long hours stroking — err, working on their strokes.
You graduated high school in only three years, and went pro after a year of college. When you weren’t playing golf, you were working on your flexibility with a local gymnastics club. Apparently you’re a top-level gymnast. If this golf thing doesn’t work out, you could make a lot of money by letting people watch you ride the pommel horse.
Your swimsuit calendar has sold out four times over, and you’ve been linked to super-studs Derek Jeter and Ben Roethlisberger. Recent reports claim that Big Ben has won your heart, but after watching the Steelers’ two playoff games, we’re sure you’ve noticed that he’s prone to making premature decisions in pressure situations, if you know what we mean.
The fact that you love the music of Creed and Celine Dion — or that you claim to eat McDonald’s almost every day — has left us undeterred. Natalie Gulbis, you are the elegant albatross women’s golf has been waiting for.
May your fairways be green and your roughs not too… rough? Either way, you are sexy!
