Australian Singer Cody Simpson Signs with Justin Bieber Manager Scooter Braun

As teen sensation Justin Bieber and his crew head for Mexico to jumpstart their South American “My World” tour, news is out that Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun is now running the ship for young 14-year-old Australian singer Cody Simpson.

Braun, whose real name is Scott Samuel Braun, not only discovered Bieber on YouTube but got him signed to Island Records under L.A. Reid.

Braun will now try to duplicate his Bieber success with Cody Simpson.

Cody says,

“I’m a big fan of Justin’s. We support each other a lot. He was talking to me yesterday about the songs he liked off my album. People say we’re in a competition, but it’s really like being friends and part of a family. It’s definitely not something that should be seen as a rivalry.”

Scooter Braun, who was born in New York, got his start by organizing parties while attending Emory University.

His events attracted celebrity performers like Ludacris and Britney Spears, and when he was 19-years-old created his own party-promotion company.

In 2002, Jermaine Dupri hired him as Director of Marketing of So So Def Records, and at age 20 was named Executive Marketing Director.

In addition to Justin Bieber, Braun also manages singer Asher Roth and has business connections to wake board guru and champion Paulie Koch.

Scooter currently owns and operates two music labels - Raymond-Braun Media Group (RBMG) which is co-owned with Usher, and Schoolboy Records.

Even though Simpson was just signed and is already getting asked about collaborations with Bieber.

Simpson has released one album and just completed a short U.S. tour with friend and fellow teen singer Greyson Chance who was also discovered on YouTube and signed by Ellen DeGeneres’ label “eleveneleven”.

Video - Greyson Chance Sings “Unfriend You” at the MDA Telethon

For those of you who missed the 2011 MDA Telethon last weekend, Greyson Chance sang “Unfriend You” from his new album as part of the event.

The telethon rose over $60 million for the charity and set a new record for the annual affair.

Were not sure if Greyson had the opportunity to meet Jerry Lewis or not, but we applaud him for being part of the event and helping out the MDA.

Greyson did a great job and you can even tell his voice is starting to drop.

Doesn’t it seem like he drank 5 cups of coffee before performing?

He just seems more animated than we are used to seeing him.

Greyson is on vacation this week but will be back on the road later this month doing free shows at several Hard Rock Cafe’s around the country.

Video - New Greyson Chance Video Gives Tour of His Hometown and House

So, what’s it like to go from a small town musician to the bright lights of Hollywood?

Just ask 14-year-old Greyson Chance.

Greyson, who was discovered by Ellen DeGeneres after posting a YouTube video singing Lady Gaga, took to Vevo “Area Codes” last week to give his fans a personal video tour of his hometown Edmond Oklahoma.

His tour started inside his house where he shows us his two pianos – his childhood piano and the one that Ellen bought him.

Chance also talks about his discovery by Ellen, and shows us the very Church in Henderson Hills where he played the now famous “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga that started it all and propelled him into the limelight.

Greyson says he is an avid collector of old school vinyl records and takes about 50 of them on the road with him while on tour.

Greyson also visits the Children’s Miracle Network hospital where he makes a donation of $10,000 and talks to several patients and doctors.

He gives us a view of the Ford Center where he was asked to perform the National Anthem and says he always listens to “Escape” by Journey before he goes on stage.

Chance has a new album coming out in August called “Hold on till the Night” and has recently released a new music video for his single “Unfriend You”.

This comes on the success of his first single “Waiting Outside the Lines”.

Greyson is currently on tour with Miranda Cosgrove and Cody Simpson and frequently calls in to the Ellen show to give his fans an update on what he is doing.

It has also been announced that he will be taking a recurring role on the television series "Raising Hope" next season - his first journey into the world of TV.

Greyson Chance to Appear on “Raising Hope” Next Season in Multiple Episodes - Video

It may take more than a teen idol music career to make singer Greyson Chance happy.

And we know it takes a village to raise a baby these days...

Just ask the cast of “Raising Hope”.

And next season the show will get a little help from the 13-year-old singer.

Greyson is slated to appear as a semi-recurring cast member in at least three episodes of the Fox sitcom that follows the “Chance” family as they find themselves adding an unexpected new member into their household.

Raising Hope” creator Greg Garcia took to twitter saying,

"Looking forward to having Greyson Chance on a few episodes of Raising Hope next season."

The show stars Lucas Neff, Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt – but the runaway comedic relief falls squarely on veteran actress Cloris Leachman who plays Maw Maw.

Lucas Neff plays Jimmy Chance, whose life takes a radical turn when a casual romantic encounter with a woman goes wrong after he learns she is a wanted criminal and ends up on death row.

When Jimmy visits her in prison he learns she is pregnant with their baby, and after she gives birth is tasked with raising their daughter.

No word yet as to what role Greyson will play but it’s interesting that his last name is the same as the fictional family.

Greyson was discovered after singing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” on YouTube and was quickly snatched up by Ellen DeGeneres’ eleveneleven record label.

He has since gone on to produce several hit singles including “Waiting Outside the Lines”, and more recently “Unfriend You”.

The young singer also has a new album due out this August called “Hold On ‘Till Night”.

Chance is upfront about his journey into TV land saying,

“Music is my first love but I feel like there should be a backup plan. So many kid musicians don’t last long after turning 18 and I want to build other sets of experiences while my career is growing.”

Smart kid.

We think his music career is doing just fine under the care of Ellen, but the world of being a teen music idol can be a fickle place. One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out.

We’re excited about seeing Greyson on TV and can’t wait to watch next seasons “Raising Hope”.

Life is pretty good for 13-year-old Greyson Chance these days.

Greyson’s first hit was “Waiting Outside The Lines” and it gave us a little insight as to what style the young singer was going to unveil to the World.

Today he released his latest music video for “Unfriend You”, and our first impression was it was more than just another pop rock kind of song.

It is really good!

Do I dare say this – it sounded a lot like something Lady Gaga would sing and it fit is style perfectly.

Video - Greyson Chance Covers Michael Jackson and Releases New Album Details

Move over Justin Bieber – there’s a new kid on the block.

13-Year-Old Greyson Chance stormed the world after being discovered on YouTube playing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” and has quickly turned into a rising star.

Of course the inevitable comparisons to Bieber are to be expected, but Greyson is a lot more “rock” with a little pop, where Bieber is nothing but “pop” and very little rock.

As it turns out, Ellen DeGeneres took young Greyson under her wing and is producing his album and managing his career after creating her “eleveneleven” record company and signing Greyson as her first artist.

Now, after his two hit singles “Waiting Outside The Lines” and “Unfriend You”, he is preparing his first full length album due this August.

As a tease, Chance released the cover art for the highly anticipated album titled “Hold On ‘Til Night”.

Greyson Chance's New Album Cover

Greyson says it’s not just art and there is meaning to it saying,

“The album cover is not just about art – it’s mainly about words. Words mean everything in this world and can both help and hurt people. The words on the piano, and all over the cover, are happy words, positive words. I like to think of my music as a way to convey positive words to the entire world.”

Okay, maybe a little deep coming from the mind of a 13-year-old but we definitely get the idea.

Greyson credits Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson as his two main influences because they have amazing music and are (were) not afraid to be who they wanted to be regardless of who the world felt they should be.

In a tribute to Jackson’s two year anniversary since his tragic death, Chance covered one of his favorite Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5's song “I Wanna Be Where You Are.”

And if Greyson wasn’t busy enough, he is currently traveling around North America with his friend and tour mate Cody Simpson on their “Waiting 4 You” tour.

Greyson also has his own professional web site at Greyson-official.com and YouTube Channel that already has over 67 million views.

Keep your eye on this kid, he’s going to be a star.
