Keith Olbermann Fired – Leaves MSNBC

If you were watching Keith Olbermann on Friday night you were one of the first to hear the news. Olbermann is leaving MSNBC effective immediately and Friday was his last show. Wow.

Reports indicate Keith had an additional two years left on his contract and did not really give an explanation as to why he was leaving. Was he fired? Yes.

Remember, Keith was suspended for two days in November for “Improper campaign donations” and has come under fire for comments in the past.

By Saturday morning some new outlets were reporting that the recent Comcast NBC takeover approval was the death nail for Mr. Olbermann. In fact, it looks like NBC will continue to pay him his $7 million a year salary. He will probably have to stay off the air for up to a year or more as a result.

“Countdown with Keith Olbermann” was the highest rated show on MSNBC and helped make the network what it is today. Why would the top brass of Comcast want him out?

We never liked Comcast to begin with, and with this move are starting to feel very uneasy about the NBC Comcast deal.

Video - Ben Affleck Does Keith Olbermann On SNL

Ben Affleck visited his friends at Saturday Night Live last night, and in addition to a killer open with John McCain and Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, managed to pull of a great Keith Olbermann skit.

Affleck lambasted current president George Bush for being a racist and bigot, and did a spoof of Olbermann's "Worst Person In The World" segment.

In his "Special Comment" section, Affleck goes after the coop manager of his apartment complex, after he is evicted for having a pet in a no pet apartment.

The result was controversial, with the host going off on Japanese internment camps, equal rights, justice, and fairness.

It was uncomfortable.

John McCain Snubs Frustrated David Letterman - Video

John McCain put David Letterman on the hot seat last night when he called the talk show host and cancelled his appearance at the last minute. Letterman was not happy, and had to find a last minute guest to fill his spot.

The problem? Letterman learned that McCain was only five blocks away at the time doing an interview with Katie Couric.

Letterman became especially upset when he caught the Republican presidential nominee in a live feed from New York being interviewed by his own network's Katie Couric. McCain had personally told Letterman he was canceling because he was headed back to the capital to handle the financial crisis.

Letterman told his audience that when things get tough, it is not the time to suspend a campaign, and that something didn't smell right. His comments also criticized Sarah Palin, McCain's old age, and the whole issue of the Financial Meltdown.

Letterman speculated that McCain did not cancel because of the financial crisis, but rather because of problems in his poll numbers.

At one point, Letterman interrupted his guest, Keith Olbermann, to show the audience the live feed of Couric's show and John McCain getting his makeup touched up. Letterman screamed at the camera, "John, do you need a ride to the airport?"

MSNBC: Keith Olbermann And Chris Matthews Out - David Gregory In

Looks like Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews have gone one step too far with their opinionated political coverage.

MSNBC has announced the two anchors are being removed from all political coverage due to their biased and opinionated reporting.

Both Olbermann and Matthews were scheduled to host the approaching debates between John McCain and Barrack Obama, but will now be replaced by David Gregory.

Gregory, the old hand Washington political reporter, will anchor all of MSNBC's coverage of the presidential and vice presidential debates and election night coverage, network spokesman Jeremy Gaines said Sunday.

The tipping point came during the Republican convention when Keith Olbermann criticized the showing of a September 11 tribute video presented by the Republicans.

Even more embarrassing for the network was when Joe Scarborough was talking about the positive changes in John McCain's campaign, and Olbermann was heard on an offstage microphone saying: "Jesus, Joe, why don't you get a shovel?"

"Fair And Balanced" and "We Report, You Decide" kind of takes on a new meaning with these guys.
